The Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores Improvement Association (PLSIA) is an organization which was formed in 1951 by the property owners in Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores and the developers of the plat. The purpose is to promote safety and cleanliness; maintain and generally improve the Association property and support civic endeavors which pertain to the Pettaquamscutt community. The Association pays the taxes and insurance and has been responsible for maintenance of the beach, the parking lot and the grass area for over 60 years. This includes the two lots where the clubhouse is located.
Why should you join the PLSIA as a member?
The approximate annual cost for this upkeep is $10,000.00. Without the membership dues, we cannot keep the beach private for the Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores property owners. The beach and boat ramp would become town property and possibly anyone would be able to use it. This would increase the traffic coming down Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores Road and increase the amount of trash and noise in our neighborhood. We are a growing community. Many of you have experienced new homes built either next door or on your street or you are new homeowners in the neighborhood. Although living in Narragansett allows families to enjoy the water at a close-to-home location, having a private beach and boat ramp in your own neighborhood has its advantages. Coming home after work and walking to the water to cool off, not having to leave the neighborhood for boat access to Narragansett Bay, being able to close your eyes and hear your children playing in the sand and wave-free surf are only a few reasons to maintain and preserve your beach. The Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores beach and boat access and the clubhouse depend on the membership of this plat financially. The members pay dues to maintain the properties, and the dues make up most of the yearly budget. The plat has over 360 homes. The beach, boat ramp and the clubhouse are private. The ingress and egress access is deeded to property owners in Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores. Both pieces of property (2 lots at the beach and 2 at the clubhouse) are privately insured, maintained and the taxes paid by the PLSIA. Please join the PLSIA with your membership and enjoy the many activities, gatherings, beach and other neighborhood-friendly fun.
